CCH Missions & Trips

While the college campus is our primary mission field, we believe part of developing young people as Christ-followers involves helping them engage in giving, service, and outreach opportunities in a variety of ways.  Expanding students' experiences with the worldwide Body of Christ, their involvement through giving, and their understanding of how God is working in communities near and far is why we build "missions" into what we do at CCH.

Places we Go...

While missions are yet to be determined for the '20-'21 school year, check out past trips below for an idea of the kinds of trips CCH has offered.

The ICOM (International Conference on Missions)
Picture
From November 14-17, 2019, students interested in missions should join us on a road trip to Kansas City, MO!  The International Conference On Missions exists to encourage, equip, and enlist workers for the harvest. This extensive international conference serves as a connection point for global missions.  You'll experience main speakers & worship, workshops with people who have worked (or currently work) in the field of Christian missions, and an exhibit hall where you can network with those in the field.   Learn more about ICOM here.
Louisville, KY (Crossroads)

In May 2019, Hannah took a group to visit CrossRoads Missions in Louisville, KY.  According to their website, "ServeLouisville harnesses the power of volunteers and groups to remodel existing homes and build on abandoned lots in Louisville.  Through a partnership with Fuller Center for Housing and local churches, we make a sustainable impact on the lives of families and the communities we serve."  Learn more about CrossRoads Missions here.
Clarence, MO (SHILOH CHRISTIAN CHILDREN'S RANCH)
Picture
Our most popular and longest running trip, Shiloh gives our students the opportunity to serve and see up close this ranch-style community and ministry for kids from difficult backgrounds.  Each year, we head to Missouri in February for a weekend of interacting with the house parents, their families, and kids as we chop and haul the wood they use in their furnaces to heat their homes.  This school year's dates will be February 13-16, 2020.  Learn more about Shiloh here.

Cercady, Haiti (410 Bridge)
Picture
Each year, we head down to Cercady, Haiti, to observe, learn, encourage and participate alongside local pastors and Christians as they show us how the Gospel is working in their community.  We get a glimpse into what Christ-centered holistic community development looks like in a developing country as we go on prayer walks through the community, do VBS-style activities with school kids, join in on Bible studies with Haitian pastors, participate in worship services, serve through projects which locals identify as needs, and encourage local residents, entrepreneurs, and youth.  Each year, our group gets to meet the children we sponsor.  Learn more about 410 Bridge here.

Places we give...

Our students give to a variety of ministries and organizations each year through various campaigns as well as through the weekly Sunday morning offerings.  In fact, 30% of everything given to Sunday offerings goes toward 4 different missions.  Click on the following categories to learn more about where we give!
SUnday Offerings' contributions to missions
Thirty percent* of the student offerings given each week is devoted to missions.  Currently, this 30% is divided among the following ministries:
  • Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch, Clarence, MO
  • Hispanic Christian Ministries, Panama
  • Cercady, Haiti with 410 Bridge
  • CCH student-led outreach events & activities on EIU's campus
*The remaining 70% helps cover our student events and activities such as dinners, retreats, conferences, etc.  Give to the Sunday Offering here.  Alternatively, to learn how to give toward the General Fund (ie - staff salaries, building maintenance, operations, etc.), click here.
Alternative christmas gifts campaign
For several years, our REACH Action Group leaders have organized alternative Christmas gift campaigns for students to donate toward resources for those in need in honor of their own family members or loved ones.  Over the years, our students' gifts have helped supply livestock, school materials, Bibles, blankets, and more through organizations like 410 Bridge, Haitian Christian Outreach, Samaritan's Purse, World Vision, and local Charleston/Mattoon organizations.
the 410 fast
As part of our partnership with the community of Cercady, Haiti, we commit to raise funds to help with their community development efforts.  One of our REACH Leaders developed the 410 Fast so that each spring, our students fast on April 10th to raise awareness, prayers, and funds to bless our brothers and sisters in Haiti.
